Majid Al Futtaim Among the First Companies to Enable Jaywan Acceptance, Enhancing Payment Convenience for Over 200 Destinations in the UAE

21 Jul 2026

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 15 July 2026 – Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail, and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, today announced Jaywan card acceptance across more than 200 destinations in the UAE, becoming one of the country's first companies to fully enable the national card acceptance across its physical network. The milestone reinforces Majid Al Futtaim's commitment to supporting the UAE's vision for a sovereign, future-ready payments ecosystem.

Customers can now use Jaywan cards across the Group’s retail, leisure, hotels, and entertainment destinations, offering greater flexibility and choice at every touchpoint. The initiative supports the country's ambition to build a nationally owned and operated payments network while delivering a secure, efficient, and locally relevant experience for consumers.

Darren Taylor, Senior Vice President, SHARE Rewards & Customer Solutions, Majid Al Futtaim, said: "Our priority is to make every interaction with Majid Al Futtaim simple, intuitive, and rewarding. Enabling Jaywan acceptance across our destinations gives customers more ways to pay while maintaining the seamless experience they expect from us. It also reflects the strength of our payment infrastructure, helping reduce transaction costs, accelerate settlement for domestic payments, and enable us to continue delivering new capabilities that meet the evolving needs of our customers."

Jaywan is the UAE’s domestic card scheme, introduced by Al Etihad Payments as part of the Central Bank of the UAE’s vision for a resilient national payment’s ecosystem. It is designed to strengthen the UAE's digital economy by establishing a domestic card scheme that localises the country's payment infrastructure, and reinforces national financial sovereignty. As digital transactions continue to grow across the UAE, the scheme is playing an increasingly important role in fostering a resilient and future-ready financial landscape for consumers and businesses alike.

Andrea Cianchetti, Chief Products Officer at Al Etihad Payments (AEP), said: “Merchant acceptance is where a card scheme becomes real for customers. Majid Al Futtaim operates some of the UAE’s most visited destinations, bringing Jaywan into more of the everyday payment experiences of customers across the country. Our focus is on continuing to expand acceptance across the ecosystem with more merchants, more issuers and more everyday transactions.”

Majid Al Futtaim's integration of Jaywan now extends across its physical footprint, with in-store acceptance enabled through its acquiring partnership with Network International. Online acceptance across the Group's digital platforms will be introduced in the coming weeks, further expanding payment options for customers. Together, these milestones will provide a secure and consistent payment experience across Majid Al Futtaim's destinations while supporting the continued evolution of the UAE's domestic payments ecosystem.

Jaywan cards are being issued in phases through participating financial institutions, with acceptance continuing to expand across merchants throughout the UAE.
