Muscat, Oman: City Centre Qurum and City Centre Muscat, Majid Al Futtaim’s leading lifestyle destinations in the Sultanate, are paying tribute to Omani heritage in celebration of the 45th National Day through a series of compelling cultural activities from November 15-20.
City Centre malls launch the second edition of the community arts initiative, Art of C - Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls community-driven arts initiative for City Centre malls in collaboration with Oman Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) as part of the Fine Arts Festival “Watani Lawhati”. Art of C aims to promote the Sultanate’s thriving arts culture through an interactive cultural platform at City Centre Qurum and City Centre Muscat. Running from November 15-19, the five-day programme will unveil some of Oman’s respected artists representing the 11 governorates of the Sultanate on 3D C-shaped canvases.
C-shaped canvases will be placed at key areas of the malls and used by the invited artists to demonstrate national pride using a variety of artistic mediums. 7 of the 11 artists from Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) will be working at City Centre Muscat, while the other four will be creating artworks at City Centre Qurum.
The artworks will be displayed at different areas of the malls, and then will be gifted to Government entities after the exhibition. A dedicated jury will announce three winners from both malls, and distribute prizes of OMR 1000 (1st prize), OMR 750 (2nd prize) and OMR 500 (3rd prize) at the closing ceremony on November 19 at the leisure court of City Centre Muscat.
City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum will also feature an interactive workshop for the little ones as part of the Art of C. All proceeds will be donated to the charity, “Dar Al Ataa”.
“Supporting the communities in which we operate, through the Art of C initiative, we bring together aspiring and professional artists to showcase locally-based talents while honouring the culture and heritage of Oman.
